I have been working in the mental health field since 2003 in a variety of settings. I approach counseling in an individualized and nonjudgmental manner. I am passionate about helping couples and individuals discover their best lives by building on their strengths and identifying opportunities for personal growth.
Why I Chose a Career in Counseling
From the time I was very young, I have been interested in helping others. During college, I began to realize that counseling was a career that would allow me to help others overcome difficulties in their lives by identifying areas where they have become stuck. I quickly realized that my ability to hear the stories of others without imparting my own judgments and preconceived judgments helped them open up about their most challenging situations. I like that I get to hold and share hope with those who have lost it. As a counselor, I have committed to lifelong learning and I am currently pursuing my PhD in counselor education and supervision because I believe there is always more to learn.
What Counseling Will Look Like
I want my clients to feel comfortable and free to talk about anything; I also want the intake process to be straightforward. After a short phone consultation, you will be sent online forms to complete before our first session. The first session is about familiarizing you with the counseling process and discovering more about you through an interactive assessment process. I enjoy working with adults and couples on a variety of issues, including anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, intimacy, and communication. If you have lost hope in your situation, I would love to talk with you about how counseling can make a difference.
